The economy is changing fast. Will our communities keep up?

Leaders like you are facing big challenges with tools that no longer fit the moment. That can be frustrating, but this is also a chance to create something better.

Our Perspective

At Bloom Economy Labs, we believe thriving communities do more than react to change. They shape it.

We’re exploring new approaches to help economic, workforce and ecosystem leaders turn challenges into real-world solutions through rapid experimentation, adaptive strategy, and data-informed decision making.

About Emily

Growing up in small-town Alabama during the Great Recession showed me firsthand: strong communities are built on people—how they support each other and adapt when times change.

That belief has shaped my career, leading initiatives that:

  • Worked with project teams to bring 15,500+ jobs and $4.8B in investment to communities
  • Expanded access to data and AI careers through programs like Magic City Data Collective and Alabama Data Scholars
  • Created a rapid response system supporting 600+ small businesses during COVID
  • Co-led an organization through uncertainty, growing program revenue by 230%, cutting the deficit in half, while retaining key stakeholders and team members

After a year working with a startup on emerging skills and technologies, I recognized how quickly the economy is shifting—and how our old playbooks aren’t keeping pace. Now, I’m exploring new approaches to help communities spot opportunities, adapt faster, and build long-term resilience.
